How to Build LARPing-Safe Ranged Packets

How to build larp-safe ranged packets

Ranged packets are very simple to make. You will need:

  • A bolt of thin cloth (old cotton tee shirts work well)
  • A bag of birdseed
  • Rubber bands
  • a tablespoon
  • A spool of 1/2″ to 1″ wide ribbon (optional)

The Process

Take your fabric and cut it into 6″ x 6″ squares. Take a tablespoon of birdseed and pour it into the center of the cloth. Wrap the cloth around the birdseed core, securing the edges with a rubber band. For weapon packets (which represent arrows or other ranged ammunition), cut a length of ribbon between 6″ and 12″ and tie it to the packet. It should hang loose from the packet like a tail.
